Aer Lingus Rebrand Implementation
Aer Lingus worked with the international brand consultancy Lippincott in developing the brand strategy and vision, as well as creating the new brand identity in 2019. Myself and associate designer Marie Vahey were tasked to help implement and roll out the new identity across a number of touch points. As part of the induction to the implementation phase Lippincott briefed us on their design approach and presented the new vision for the Aer Lingus visual identity. They also provided initial guidelines along with some sample applications from which to build on and develop.

The solution
Over five extremely busy months both Marie and I designed, tested and prototyped a large number of touchpoints across the customer journey. Throughout the process the Lippincott team collaborated with us in brand clinics to ensure their vision was brought to life. The Aer Lingus brand team were also fully committed to making significant changes across every single touchpoint throughout this process. Designing branded applications for an  airline is not like designing for any other client. There are additional challenges to bear in mind for air travel – the materials must be certified, the sizes must be maximised to fit and work on board an aircraft, the weight of each item is an important consideration and there are the added logistics of working airside where everything must be security-screened. All of these challenges and working for an  iconic Irish airline makes things all the more worthwhile. Read the full case study here.
